Joseph's Hardships are used for God's glory

Genesis 45: 3-6

Joseph couldn’t keep his secret from his brothers anymore. He had to tell them who he was. Look at their reaction, they were terrified. Here they had been evil to him and had expected him to die and now he had the power to kill all of them, their entire families, and everything they had.

However, this was not what God had saved Joseph for. Sometimes we have to go through hard times to learn valuable lessons for the future that we can use to greater his kingdom.

Genesis 45: 7-8; 10-11

Joseph shows them love and show them how God had used them as tools. Even though their actions and motivations were evil, God wanted to use them for good. God can take some of the worst things that ever happen to you and use them to develop you and in the end make you stronger.

Joseph explained to his bothers that the Lord had sent him ahead of them in this way so that he could provide for them and keep them from being destitute during the famine. Sometimes we don’t understand why bad things happen to good people, but if we trust in God, looking back we can see the true nature of how God used them to his glory.

Genesis 45: 16-20

God had placed Joseph in the position that he did not only to save Egypt, but also to save his family. At that time Hebrews, especially sheapards were not thought of as intellectuals or considered very high on the ladder of prestige.

But God cut through all of that by using Joseph and Pharaoh’s love for him to provide Joseph’s entire family with the best. Pharaoh even told them to leave their stuff. Imagine if someone told you to move into the best house in the world and never mind bringing anything because you’ll get all new stuff. God can bless us beyond our wildest dreams if we will just trust him.

Inspirational Story of the Week

Bank Account

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully

dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair

fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is

legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.

His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move

necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby

of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room

was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a

visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets

that had been hung on his window.

I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old

having just been presented with a new puppy.

Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.

Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.

Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the

furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already

decided to love it.

'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have

a choice;

I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have

with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of

bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift,

and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all

the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in

my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what

you've put in.

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in

the bank account of memories!
